The Chicago Tribune updates us on the latest in the film wars. In this last episode, Illinois and Massachusetts are fighting over "Daddy's Girl."
Once upon a time, states were warding off competition for films from abroad, especially Canada and the Czech Republic. It really ruffled feathers in Chicago, for example, when the movie "Chicago" was filmed in Toronto. More recently, though, states are competing against each other, as when Pennsylvania snatched the production of "Annapolis" away from Maryland's capitol city.
Stateline reported on the arms race among states for film sites last year. The story still offers a good lay of the land on the topic.
